As we bring in the new year 2016 in the #EastSideLounge #LasVegas @wynnlasvegas most of us are thinking about our New Year’s resolutions and wishes, but I’d like to take a moment to reflect on 2015. As I was getting ready in my room, in the Encore Hotel, high above the sounds of slot machines and the excitement of the crap tables I looked out the window at the view of Las Vegas, and thought how blessed I was to be living my dream.
I’d like to thank Steve Wynn for bringing me to Las Vegas and Rick Gray, Dave Loeb and Richard Hudock for bringing Michael Monge and the Wynn Encore Trio together and getting the word out. Last but not least I’d like to thank my manager, Susanne Spinelli for always believing in me and worked tirelessly to help promote me.
I’d also like to take a moment to recognize my Wynn Encore Trio, Three incredible musicians, Jamie Grant, my pianist and music director, Jeff Davis on the bass and Austin Pooley on the drums. In case you didn’t know our show is not scripted so you can always expect the unexpected. We always try to please our guests.
I think the number one unexpected pick for the year would have to be Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird.” The crowd went wild and I think I heard one of the bartenders yell out “Michael you rock”. I expect 2016 to be even more exciting as we sing songs from #The Rat Pack #Sinatra #Dean Martin #Sammy Davis Jr., #Motown #Billy Joel #John Legend and who knows maybe some new surprises.
Keep the Las Vegas State of Mind.
Signing off.
Michael Monge
